Possible Causes
Partially clogged fuel filter, Dirty carburetor jets, Restricted exhaust, Governor misadjustment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect all loads and place the generator in MANUAL mode for testing only.
- Run no‑load test: Start the generator with no load and let it warm up. If it runs smoothly, the issue is load‑related or fuel/air under load.
- Replace fuel filter: Install a new DuroStar‑specified fuel filter to ensure adequate flow.
- Clean carburetor: Add a high‑quality fuel system cleaner to the fuel and run the unit under light load. For persistent issues, remove and clean the carburetor thoroughly or replace it.
- Check governor response: While carefully applying a small load, observe the governor linkage. It should move to increase throttle. If sluggish, clean and adjust per the service manual.
