How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect the battery, and allow the engine to cool. Clean up spilled oil to prevent slips.
- Identify leak source: Clean the engine exterior and run briefly while observing for fresh oil. Use a flashlight to inspect around the filter, drain plug, and gaskets.
- Tighten filter and plug: Hand‑tighten the oil filter plus 3/4 turn. Snug the drain plug to the specified torque. Do not overtighten.
- Replace gaskets: If oil seeps from the valve cover or crankcase seam, replace the respective gasket using OEM parts.
- Refill and test: Top off oil to the correct level and run the generator while monitoring for further leaks.
