Possible Causes
Open neutral connection between generator and ATS, Loose neutral bar in generator terminal box, Faulty residual current device (RCD) or earth leakage breaker, Incorrect neutral‑earth bonding configuration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate generator and mains. Only a qualified electrician should work on neutral and earth connections.
- Inspect neutral conductor: In the generator terminal box, verify that the neutral (N) conductor is securely connected and not burnt or loose.
- Check cable to ATS: Confirm continuity of the neutral conductor from generator to ATS using a multimeter. Repair any breaks.
- RCD/ELCB check: If the generator has an integrated RCD, test it using the TEST button. If it trips immediately or will not reset, replace the RCD module.
- Verify bonding: Ensure the neutral‑earth bonding arrangement matches Einhell and local code requirements (floating neutral vs bonded). Incorrect bonding can trigger E13 on some controllers.
Improper neutral/earth configuration can be hazardous. Have an electrician verify the installation if you are unsure.
