Possible Causes
Load step exceeds controller settings, Large motor loads without soft start, Incorrect power factor of connected equipment, Misconfigured kW/kVA limit in controller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect non‑essential loads before troubleshooting. Avoid sudden connection of large loads.
- Stagger load connection: Connect large appliances (pumps, compressors, HVAC) one at a time, allowing the generator to stabilize between each step.
- Use soft‑start devices: For large motors, install soft‑starters or variable frequency drives (VFDs) compatible with generator operation to reduce inrush current.
- Review controller settings: In the Einhell controller menu (if accessible), check the maximum load and power factor settings. Reset to factory defaults if misconfigured.
- Measure load: Use a clamp meter to measure current on each phase and ensure total load remains within the generator's continuous rating.
If E14 occurs even with moderate loads, the controller's current sensing or CTs may be faulty and require service.
