Possible Causes

Moisture inside generator outlets or wiring, Damaged insulation on output cables, Faulty appliance connected to generator, Incorrect neutral‑earth bonding

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate generator and mains. Do not repeatedly reset an RCD that trips immediately.

  • Disconnect all loads: Unplug every device from the generator and open the ATS so the house is not connected.
  • Test generator alone: Start the Einhell generator with no loads. If the RCD holds, the fault is in the external wiring or appliances.
  • Inspect outlets: Check generator sockets for moisture, dirt, or insect nests. Dry thoroughly and clean.
  • Reconnect loads one by one: Plug in each appliance individually until the RCD trips. The last connected device is likely faulty.

If the RCD trips with no loads, have an electrician perform insulation resistance tests on the generator wiring.
