Possible Causes
Oil leak from sump or seals, Excessive oil consumption, Faulty oil level sensor in sump, Incorrect dipstick reading due to installation angle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the generator is stopped and cannot start automatically. Allow a few minutes for oil to drain back to the sump before checking level.
- Check oil level with dipstick: Remove, wipe, reinsert, and check. If below the minimum mark, top up with the specified oil grade. Do not exceed the maximum mark.
- Inspect for leaks: Look around the sump plug, oil filter, rocker cover, and crankshaft seals for oil traces. Tighten or replace components as needed.
- Check oil level sensor: If the dipstick shows correct level but alarm persists, locate the sump level sensor. Inspect wiring and connector. Remove the sensor (if accessible) and clean the float or probe.
- Reset and test: Clear the alarm and start in MANUAL. If the alarm reappears with correct oil level, the sensor may need replacement.
