Possible Causes
Leak from fuel filter or hoses, Cracked day tank or base tank, Loose fuel line fittings, Faulty fuel leak sensor or float switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop the generator immediately. No smoking or ignition sources near the set. Use absorbent pads to contain any spill.
- Locate the leak: Inspect under the base frame, around the fuel filters, injection pump, and hoses for wet diesel. Follow the smell and visible wet areas.
- Check leak sensor: Many FG Wilson sets have a leak tray with a float switch. Inspect the tray for fuel and the switch for correct operation.
- Tighten fittings: Carefully tighten hose clamps and threaded fittings at the leak point. Do not overtighten plastic components.
- Replace damaged parts: Replace cracked hoses, filters, or tank fittings. Use FG Wilson-approved fuel hose rated for diesel.
- Clean up: Remove spilled fuel with absorbent material and dispose of it according to local regulations. Reset the leak sensor and clear the alarm before restarting.
