Possible Causes
Corroded base fuel tank, Loose drain plug, Cracked fuel return line, Failed tank level sender gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop the generator, isolate power, and prevent automatic start. No smoking or open flames. Use spill kits to contain fuel.
- Identify leak source: Inspect the underside of the base tank, drain plug, and all visible fuel lines. Use a flashlight to trace wet areas.
- Tighten fittings: Carefully tighten the tank drain plug and any accessible hose clamps or threaded fittings.
- Replace damaged components: If the tank is corroded or a hose is cracked, arrange for replacement with FG Wilson-approved parts. Do not attempt to weld a fuel-filled tank.
- Test for further leaks: After repairs, refill the tank partially and observe for new leaks before returning to service.
