Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, close the fuel shutoff valve, and disconnect battery negative. Ventilate the area thoroughly before working.
- Inspect air filter: Remove the air filter cover and element. If the filter is heavily soiled or soaked with fuel/oil, replace it with a Firman-specified element.
- Check carburetor (gasoline/propane): Remove the carburetor bowl and inspect for debris. Clean the float and needle valve with carburetor cleaner. Ensure the float moves freely and shuts off fuel when raised.
- Inspect fuel regulator (NG/LP models): Verify that the gas pressure regulator is not leaking and that the vent is clear. Replace the regulator if it is stuck open or leaking.
- Check for fuel leaks: Examine fuel lines, fittings, and injectors (diesel) for drips or wetness. Tighten or replace components as needed.
After repairs, reopen the fuel supply, reconnect the battery, clear E11, and test run. Persistent rich-running faults may require carburetor or injector replacement by a technician.
