Possible Causes

Clogged air filter element, Blocked intake louvers or ducting, Collapsed intake hose, Foreign object in airbox

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect battery negative.

  • Inspect air filter: Open the air filter housing on the Firman generator. Remove the filter element and inspect it against light. If it is dark, oily, or clogged with dust, replace it with a Firman-approved element.
  • Check airbox and intake path: Look inside the airbox for leaves, nesting material, or debris. Clean thoroughly.
  • Inspect intake louvers: Ensure the enclosure intake vents are not blocked by snow, vegetation, or stored items. Maintain clear airflow around the generator per Firman installation guidelines.
  • Examine intake hose: If your model uses a flexible intake hose, check for kinks or collapse. Replace if damaged.

After restoring proper airflow, reconnect the battery, clear E14, and start the generator. Regularly replace the air filter per the maintenance schedule to prevent recurrence.
