Possible Causes
Loose utility sense wiring, Voltage fluctuations on utility line, Misconfigured start/stop thresholds, Faulty controller sensing circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and lock out the ATS if possible. Only qualified persons should work on live utility circuits.
- Inspect sense wiring: Check all low-voltage sense wires between the ATS and Firman controller for tight connections and correct routing.
- Monitor utility voltage: Use a recording meter to verify that utility voltage is within acceptable limits. If it is unstable, contact the utility provider.
- Review controller settings: In the controller menu, verify start/stop voltage and time delays are set per Firman recommendations to avoid reacting to brief sags.
- Check for electrical noise: Ensure sense wires are not run parallel to high-current conductors without shielding, which can induce false readings.
If nuisance starts continue, the controller's sensing circuit may need evaluation or replacement.
