Possible Causes
Partially clogged carburetor jets, Restricted fuel filter, Air leak in fuel line, Incorrect choke operation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect battery negative. Allow hot parts to cool.
- Observe choke: Watch the choke plate during start-up. Ensure it opens gradually as the engine warms. Adjust or repair the automatic choke linkage if it remains closed.
- Replace fuel filter: Install a new Firman-specified fuel filter to restore proper flow.
- Inspect fuel lines: Check for cracks, loose clamps, or air bubbles in transparent sections. Tighten or replace lines as needed.
- Clean carburetor: Remove the carburetor bowl and clean jets with carb cleaner and compressed air. Avoid using wire that can enlarge jet orifices.
After cleaning and reassembly, test run the generator under light load to confirm stable operation.
