Possible Causes
Incorrectly set external gas regulator, Failed generator-mounted gas regulator, Faulty fuel pressure sensor, Incorrect fuel type or conversion
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Gas pressure adjustments must be performed by a licensed gas technician. Do not attempt to adjust high-pressure regulators yourself.
- 1. Verify correct fuel type: Confirm the GE standby generator is configured for LP or NG as installed. Using the wrong fuel type or incorrect conversion kit can cause pressure issues.
- 2. Inspect external regulator: Check that the house or tank-mounted regulator is the correct model and is not visibly damaged. Do not adjust; contact your gas supplier if you suspect misadjustment.
- 3. Check generator regulator vent: Ensure the vent on the GE generator gas regulator is clear and not blocked by insects or debris, which can affect regulation.
- 4. Inspect fuel pressure sensor wiring: Verify the fuel pressure transducer connector is secure and wiring is not shorted, which could cause false high readings.
- 5. Clear alarm and monitor: After a gas professional verifies proper inlet pressure, clear the alarm by cycling OFF then AUTO and run a test. If the alarm persists, the generator regulator or sensor may need replacement.
