Possible Causes
Open or shorted sensor wiring harness, Failed oil pressure or temperature sensor, Corroded sensor connector, Defective control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn the controller to OFF and disconnect the negative battery cable before unplugging sensors.
- 1. Identify affected sensor: Use the controller menu or manual to determine which sensor (oil, temp, speed) is indicated.
- 2. Inspect wiring harness: Follow the harness from the sensor to the GE control board. Look for chafed insulation, rodent damage, or pinched wires. Repair any damage with proper splices.
- 3. Clean connectors: Unplug the sensor connector and inspect for corrosion or moisture. Clean with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect firmly.
- 4. Check sensor resistance (advanced): Using the service manual specs, measure sensor resistance with a multimeter and compare to expected values. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range.
- 5. Clear fault and test: Reconnect the battery, cycle the controller OFF then AUTO, and run a test. If the Sensor Fault persists with known-good wiring and sensor, the control board may require replacement.
