Dirty carburetor or fuel mixer, Sticking governor linkage, Incorrect fuel pressure, Weak governor spring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Keep hands and tools away from moving linkages while the engine is running. Turn OFF the unit before adjusting or cleaning components.
- 1. Inspect and clean linkage: With engine off, move the governor and throttle linkages through their range. Clean and lightly lubricate pivot points.
- 2. Check air and fuel filters: Replace clogged air and fuel filters to ensure proper mixture.
- 3. Verify fuel pressure: Have a gas technician confirm that inlet pressure is within GE specifications for LP or NG.
- 4. Clean carburetor/mixer: On carbureted units, clean jets and passages. On mixer-type systems, ensure the mixer diaphragm is intact and not sticking.
