Possible Causes
Insufficient fuel pressure under load, Blocked fuel filter, Faulty choke or throttle position, Clogged air filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn the controller to OFF and close the gas valve before servicing fuel components. Allow the engine to cool.
- 1. Check air filter: Remove and inspect the air filter. Replace if dirty or oil-soaked.
- 2. Inspect fuel filter (if equipped): Locate the in-line fuel filter on the GE generator fuel line. Replace if restricted or if fuel appears dirty.
- 3. Observe choke operation: During start, watch the choke plate. It should close for starting and open as the engine warms. If it remains closed, adjust or repair the choke linkage or stepper motor.
- 4. Verify gas supply: Ensure all gas valves are fully open and that other large gas appliances are not starving the line when they run.
- 5. Test under no load: Start the generator with the main breaker OFF. If it runs normally unloaded but stalls when the breaker is turned ON, suspect fuel supply sizing or a severe overload.
