Possible Causes
Failed ignition coil/module, Defective spark plugs, Broken spark plug wires, Faulty ignition driver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disable automatic start and disconnect the battery negative cable before working on ignition components.
- Check for spark: Remove a spark plug, reconnect its wire, and ground the plug body to the engine. Crank the engine and look for strong blue spark. No spark indicates ignition system issues.
- Inspect plugs and wires: Replace worn or fouled spark plugs with OEM Generac plugs. Check plug wires for cracks or burns and replace if damaged.
- Test ignition coil: Measure primary and secondary resistance of the ignition coil and compare to specifications. Replace the coil if out of range.
- Controller driver: If coil and wiring are good but no trigger signal is present, the control board ignition driver may be faulty. Replace the control board.
