Possible Causes

Undersized gas line, Closed or partially closed gas shutoff valve, Faulty gas regulator, Excessive demand from other gas appliances

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Shut off gas supply before disconnecting any fuel lines. Use a gas-rated manometer for pressure checks. Only qualified personnel should adjust gas regulators.

  • Verify gas valves: Confirm that all manual gas shutoff valves to the generator are fully open.
  • Check line sizing: Compare the installed gas pipe size and length to Generac's fuel pipe sizing chart for your model. If undersized, have a licensed gas fitter upgrade the line.
  • Measure fuel pressure: Install a manometer at the generator fuel inlet and measure static and running pressure. Compare to Generac specifications for NG or LP. If pressure drops excessively under load, suspect the regulator or supply capacity.
  • Inspect regulator: Check the dedicated generator regulator for icing, vent blockage, or damage. Replace the regulator if it cannot maintain proper outlet pressure.
