Possible Causes
Open or shorted sensor, Damaged sensor wiring, Incorrect sensor type installed, Controller input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the generator OFF and disconnect battery power before unplugging sensors.
- Identify sensor: Use the controller display or manual to determine which sensor is faulted (e.g., coolant temp, oil temp).
- Inspect connector and wiring: Check for corrosion, loose pins, or damaged insulation. Clean and reseat connectors.
- Test sensor: Measure sensor resistance at ambient temperature and compare to Generac specifications. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range or open/shorted.
- Controller input: If a known-good sensor still reads faulty, the controller input circuit may be damaged. Replace the controller.
