How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: This work involves live utility and generator circuits. If you are not qualified, contact a licensed electrician.
- Verify generator output: Confirm correct voltage at the generator lugs with a meter.
- Check ATS status: Observe the Generac ATS. If the contactor does not move to the generator position during an outage, check its control fuses and wiring.
- Test transfer signal: At the ATS control terminals, verify that the generator is sending a transfer command when running in AUTO during a simulated outage.
- Inspect contactor: If the coil is energized but the contactor does not move, replace the ATS contactor assembly.
