Possible Causes
Fuel pressure dropping under load, Faulty oil pressure switch, Loose control wiring harness, Faulty run relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Keep the generator isolated from the load while diagnosing. Do not repeatedly start without addressing the cause.
- Observe behavior: Note if shutdown occurs at the same time after start (e.g., when oil pressure switch should close).
- Temporarily bypass oil switch (test only): Briefly jumper the oil pressure switch to ground to see if the engine stays running. If it does, replace the oil pressure switch.
- Check fuel supply: Monitor gas pressure at the inlet during start. If it drops, correct supply or regulator issues.
- Inspect harness: Wiggle the main control harness while running; if the engine cuts out, repair loose or broken wires.
