Possible Causes
Faulty starter relay, Open neutral safety or start inhibit circuit, Loose battery cable, Failed starter motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disable automatic start and open the generator breaker. Keep hands clear of moving parts when testing.
- Check battery connections: Verify tight, clean connections at battery posts and ground points.
- Listen for relay: In MANUAL start, listen for a click from the starter relay. No click suggests relay or control issue.
- Bypass test (advanced): Briefly jump the starter relay output to the starter terminal with an insulated tool. If the starter engages, replace the relay. If not, the starter motor may be faulty.
- Inspect safety circuits: Check E-stop and auxiliary shutdown circuits for open contacts that may inhibit cranking.
