How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the generator OFF and allow it to cool. Clean up spilled oil promptly to avoid slip hazards.
- Locate source: Clean the engine exterior and run briefly while observing for fresh oil. Trace leaks back to their origin.
- Check filter and drain plug: Tighten the oil filter by hand plus 3/4 turn. Ensure the drain plug is snug and its gasket is intact. Replace filter or gasket if leaking.
- Inspect gaskets and seals: Look for oil around the valve cover, crank seals, and oil pan. Replace leaking gaskets or seals.
- Verify oil level: After repairs, refill to proper level and monitor for further leakage.
