Possible Causes

Faulty engine speed sensor (magnetic pickup), Sticking throttle or governor linkage, Incorrect governor adjustment, Control module speed calibration fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the generator OFF, disconnect the battery negative terminal, and wait for all moving parts to stop. Do not work near rotating components with the engine running.

  • Inspect throttle and governor linkage: Remove the top cover and observe the throttle plate and governor arm. Ensure they move freely without binding. Clean dirt or corrosion and lightly lubricate pivot points with a non‑gumming lubricant.
  • Check return springs: Verify that the throttle and governor springs are intact and correctly attached as per the Genergy engine diagram. Replace stretched or broken springs.
  • Inspect speed sensor: Locate the magnetic pickup or Hall‑effect speed sensor near the flywheel or ring gear. Check the air gap against the Genergy specification (commonly 0.5–1.0 mm). Clean metal filings from the sensor tip and reseat the sensor.
  • Check wiring to controller: Follow the speed sensor harness to the Genergy control module. Look for loose plugs, corrosion, or damaged insulation. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Controller reset: Reconnect the battery, clear the fault per the user interface, and attempt a MANUAL start. If the engine stabilizes at rated RPM and E03 does not reappear, return to AUTO.

If overspeed persists or the engine races uncontrollably, shut it down immediately and contact a Genergy service center; governor internal failure can cause engine damage.
