Possible Causes

Failed ATS position feedback switch, Broken control cable between ATS and generator, Stuck transfer mechanism, Incorrect ATS configuration in controller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Both utility and generator sources must be isolated before opening the ATS enclosure. Lockout/tagout procedures are mandatory.

  • Check ATS status on controller: In the Genergy controller menu, view ATS position (UTILITY/GENERATOR). If it does not match the physical handle position, feedback switches may be faulty.
  • Inspect control cable: Trace the low‑voltage control cable from the generator to the ATS. Look for physical damage, rodent chewing, or pulled connectors. Repair or replace damaged sections.
  • Test position switches: Inside the ATS, locate the auxiliary contacts or micro‑switches that indicate switch position. Test continuity with a multimeter while manually operating the mechanism (with power off).
  • Lubricate mechanism: If the transfer mechanism is stiff or sticking, clean and lubricate pivot points with a suitable electrical‑grade lubricant, following the ATS manufacturer and Genergy guidelines.
  • Reconfigure controller if needed: Ensure the controller is set for the correct ATS type (2‑pole/3‑pole, contactor vs. breaker style) in the installer menu.
