Possible Causes
Open phase in alternator stator, Loose phase conductor at output lugs, Blown fuse in one phase of sensing circuit, Faulty current transformer (CT) or wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This involves hazardous voltages. Only qualified electricians should perform these checks. Isolate generator and ATS before opening covers.
- Inspect output lugs: With power off, tighten all phase and neutral lugs in the alternator junction box and ATS.
- Check fuses and breakers: Verify that any phase fuses or miniature breakers in the sensing circuit are intact.
- Measure phase voltages: With the generator running and under supervision, measure each phase‑to‑neutral and phase‑to‑phase voltage. A missing or low phase indicates alternator or wiring issues.
- Inspect CT wiring: Ensure current transformer leads are correctly landed on the Genergy controller terminals and that CTs are not open‑circuited.
- Contact service if stator fault suspected: Repairing an open stator winding requires alternator disassembly and should be done by a Genergy service center.
