Possible Causes
Shorted sensor (oil, temp, pressure), Failed 5V/8V sensor supply in controller, Wiring short to ground, Incorrect sensor type installed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the generator OFF and disconnect the battery before testing sensor circuits.
- Check controller diagnostics: Identify which sensor channel is reporting out‑of‑range values.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Follow the harness from the controller to the suspect sensor. Look for crushed sections, melted insulation, or contact with hot surfaces.
- Unplug suspect sensor: Disconnect the sensor and see if E23 changes or clears when power is restored. If it does, the sensor may be shorted and should be replaced.
- Measure sensor supply voltage: With the harness disconnected, measure the sensor supply voltage at the controller pins. If absent, the controller's internal regulator may be damaged and the module will need replacement.
