Possible Causes

Loose engine or alternator mounting bolts, Worn engine mounts, Damaged muffler or exhaust bracket, Internal engine wear (rod knock, valve train noise)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the generator OFF and allow moving parts to stop before touching any components. Do not place hands near belts or fans while running.

  • Inspect mounting hardware: Check all visible engine and alternator mounting bolts on the Genergy base frame. Tighten any loose fasteners to the torque specified in the service manual.
  • Check engine mounts: Look for cracked or collapsed rubber mounts between the engine/alternator and the frame. Replace worn mounts to reduce vibration.
  • Examine exhaust system: Inspect the muffler, exhaust pipe, and brackets for cracks or broken welds. Replace damaged components and secure with new hardware.
  • Run test with covers removed: Briefly run the generator with the enclosure panels removed (if safe) to localize the noise source. If the noise appears internal to the engine (deep knock, metallic clatter), shut down and contact a Genergy service technician.
