Possible Causes
Generator main breaker in OFF or tripped position, Loose or disconnected output cables in alternator junction box, Failed alternator rotor or stator, Faulty ATS power contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate both utility and generator sources. Verify with a meter that circuits are de‑energized before opening panels.
- Check generator breaker: On the Genergy unit, locate the main output breaker and ensure it is in the ON position. Reset if tripped.
- Inspect alternator junction box: With power off, open the junction box and verify that all phase and neutral conductors are securely landed and not burned or loose.
- Check ATS operation: Observe the ATS when the generator is running. Ensure it physically transfers to the generator position. If it does not, the ATS mechanism or coil may be faulty.
- Measure voltage at generator lugs: With a qualified electrician, measure voltage directly at the generator output. If voltage is present there but not at the house, the issue lies in the ATS or downstream wiring.
- Contact service for alternator repair: If no voltage is present at the generator lugs despite normal engine operation, alternator excitation or windings may have failed and require professional repair.
