Possible Causes
Insufficient oil in crankcase, Faulty oil level sensor, Oil leak at pan gasket or seals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the generator is OFF and cannot auto-start. Allow engine to cool.
Steps:
- Verify oil level: Use the dipstick to confirm actual oil level. Add oil of the specified grade until at the FULL mark.
- Inspect oil level sensor: Many Gillette engines use a float or probe in the oil pan. Check the wiring connector for corrosion and secure fit. If the alarm persists with correct oil level, the sensor may be stuck or failed.
- Replace sensor if needed: Drain oil, remove the oil level sensor from the pan, and install a new OEM sensor with a fresh gasket. Refill oil and test.
