Possible Causes

Defective magnetic pickup sensor, Incorrect sensor gap to flywheel, Broken speed sensor cable, Faulty controller speed input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF generator, isolate battery, and wait for all rotating parts to stop.

  • Locate speed sensor: Find the magnetic pickup on the flywheel housing or timing gear cover. Refer to the Himoinsa engine layout diagram.
  • Inspect sensor and gap: Remove the sensor and check for metal filings on the tip. Clean it and reinstall with the correct air gap (typically 0.5–1.0 mm; confirm in engine manual).
  • Check cable continuity: Use a multimeter to test continuity from the sensor connector to the controller terminals. Repair or replace damaged cables.
  • Measure sensor output: With the sensor installed, crank the engine and measure AC voltage at the sensor leads; a small AC voltage should be present. If not, replace the sensor.
  • Controller input test: If a known-good sensor and wiring are present but E11 persists, the controller speed input may be defective and require replacement by a qualified technician.
