Possible Causes
AVR failure causing runaway voltage, Incorrect AVR sensing wiring, Loose or broken voltage sensing leads, Incorrect controller voltage settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect generator from load and shut it down. High voltage can damage equipment and cause electric shock.
- Verify voltage: With the generator running unloaded, measure output voltage with a calibrated multimeter. Confirm if it exceeds rated value.
- Inspect AVR wiring: Check the sensing leads from the alternator to the AVR for correct connection and tightness. Refer to the Himoinsa alternator wiring diagram.
- Check controller settings: Ensure the nominal voltage and overvoltage thresholds in the controller match the generator rating.
- Replace AVR if necessary: If voltage remains uncontrollable or drifts high despite correct wiring, replace the AVR with the correct Himoinsa-specified model.
- Test under load: After repair, run the generator and gradually apply load while monitoring voltage and confirming E13 does not reoccur.
