Battery Charging System Underperformance
Generator runs but the battery repeatedly goes flat between test runs.

Possible Causes
Battery charger output too low or off, Loose charger connections, Incorrect charger settings for battery type, Parasitic load on battery
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate AC supply to the charger before opening its cover. Observe polarity when working on DC circuits.
- Measure charger output: With AC supply on, measure DC voltage at the charger output. It should match the battery system voltage with a slight float increase.
- Check connections: Tighten DC output terminals at both charger and battery ends. Inspect for corrosion.
- Charger settings: Ensure the charger is set for the correct battery type (lead-acid, AGM, etc.) and voltage.
- Parasitic loads: Identify any devices connected directly to the battery that may draw current when the generator is off. Disconnect or rewire as appropriate.
- Replace charger or battery: If the charger is functioning but the battery will not hold charge, replace the battery. If the charger has no output, replace the charger.
