Possible Causes

Weak spark (gasoline models) or poor combustion, Incorrect fuel mixture (NG/LP pressure issues), Clogged carburetor or injectors, Faulty ignition coil or spark plug

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disable auto-start and disconnect battery negative. Shut off fuel supply (close gas cock or fuel shutoff valve) before working on ignition or fuel components.

  • Check spark plug: Remove the spark plug(s) from the Honda engine. Inspect for heavy carbon, oil fouling, or cracked insulator. Clean lightly with a wire brush or replace with the exact plug type and gap specified by Honda.
  • Inspect ignition coil wiring: Ensure the ignition coil connectors are fully seated and that the coil ground is secure. Look for damaged plug wires.
  • Verify fuel type and pressure: For NG/LP models, confirm that the correct fuel type is selected (if adjustable) and that gas pressure at the generator inlet meets Honda specifications under flow. For diesel/gasoline, ensure fresh fuel is used.
  • Clean carburetor (gasoline): If the unit has sat unused, varnish may clog the carburetor jets. Remove the carburetor bowl and clean jets with carb cleaner. Replace gaskets as needed.
  • Attempt restart: Restore fuel and battery, then perform a manual start. If E11 persists after basic checks, further diagnostics (compression test, injector testing) are required by a technician.
