Possible Causes
Failed ignition coil, Defective spark plug, Damaged ignition module, Broken or shorted ignition wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and shut off gas. Avoid open flames while working near fuel.
Steps:
- Inspect spark plug: Remove the spark plug(s) from the Honeywell engine. Check for fouling, cracks, or worn electrodes. Replace with the specified plug type and gap.
- Check ignition coil connections: Locate the ignition coil(s) and verify that all primary and secondary leads are firmly connected and not damaged.
- Spark test (pro): With a spark tester and proper precautions, verify that the coil produces a strong spark during crank. No spark indicates a bad coil or ignition module.
- Harness inspection: Follow the ignition harness from the controller to the coil/module. Repair any chafed or pinched wires.
- Module replacement: If wiring and plugs are good but no spark is present, replace the ignition coil or module with the correct Honeywell/engine OEM part.
