Controller logs 'Overcurrent' or similar fault and shuts down the generator even if the breaker does not trip.

Steps:

• Isolate loads: Turn off branch breakers in the home panel and then restart the generator. Turn breakers back on one at a time to identify a problematic circuit.
• Inspect CT wiring: In Honeywell-branded transfer switches, locate the current transformers and their low-voltage leads to the controller. Ensure they are not shorted, pinched, or disconnected.
• Check for miswiring: Verify that line and load terminals in the ATS are correctly landed per the wiring diagram. Incorrect phasing can cause false overcurrent readings.
• Alternator inspection: If overcurrent occurs with no load connected, the alternator windings may be shorted. This requires professional testing and likely alternator replacement.
