Possible Causes
Loose oil filter, Loose or damaged oil drain plug, Crankcase gasket leak, Overfilled crankcase causing breather discharge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and allow it to cool. Wear gloves and contain spilled oil to prevent environmental contamination.
Steps:
- Identify source: Wipe down the engine and then observe where fresh oil appears (filter, drain plug, gasket seam).
- Filter and plug: Tighten the oil filter by hand (do not overtighten) and snug the drain plug to spec. Replace the drain plug gasket if damaged.
- Check oil level: Ensure oil is not overfilled; drain excess if above the FULL mark.
- Gasket leaks: Persistent leaks from the crankcase or seals may require gasket replacement by a technician.
- Clean up: Clean spilled oil and dispose of absorbent materials properly.
