Possible Causes
Clogged air filter, Overloaded generator, Faulty injector or injection pump, Turbocharger issue (if fitted)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid prolonged breathing of exhaust.
- Air filter: Remove and inspect the Hyundai air filter element. Replace if dirty or oil-soaked.
- Reduce load: Confirm that the connected load does not exceed the generator's rated capacity. Reduce large motor loads or non-essential circuits.
- Visual injector check: Listen for uneven cylinder firing. If one cylinder is knocking or much louder, an injector may be faulty and should be tested/replaced by a diesel specialist.
- Turbo inspection: On turbocharged models, inspect intake hoses for collapse and check for excessive oil in the intake, indicating turbo seal issues.
