Generator shuts down shortly after starting, control panel displays E02

Safety first: Switch the generator OFF, disconnect battery negative, and allow the engine to cool completely (at least 30–45 minutes). Never open a hot radiator cap.

• Check coolant level (liquid-cooled Hyundai standby models): Remove the radiator cap only when cool. Coolant should be near the neck. Top up with the recommended coolant mix. Also check the overflow reservoir level and hoses for cracks.
• Inspect airflow: Remove any debris, leaves, or dust blocking the radiator core or engine shrouds. Clean with low-pressure compressed air from the inside out. Ensure the enclosure louvers are not obstructed.
• Verify radiator fan operation: With the battery reconnected, start the generator in manual mode and observe if the electric radiator fan engages as temperature rises. If the fan does not run, check the fan fuse, fan relay, and wiring harness to the Hyundai radiator fan motor.
• Check coolant temperature sensor: Inspect the sensor connector on the thermostat housing or cylinder head. Clean and reseat. If E02 appears immediately on a cold engine, the sensor may be shorted or faulty and should be replaced.
• If overheating continues: Do not bypass safety devices. Contact a Hyundai Power Products service center to pressure-test the cooling system, inspect the water pump, and verify thermostat operation.
