Possible Causes
Open or shorted remote start wiring between ATS and controller, Incorrect ATS control wiring, Faulty ATS control board, Controller input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate both mains and generator sources before opening the ATS or control panel. Only qualified personnel should work inside the ATS.
- Check remote start terminals: On the Hyundai controller, locate the remote start input terminals (often labeled RS, Start/Stop, or dry contact). Verify that the cable from the ATS is securely connected.
- Inspect ATS wiring: In the ATS, confirm that the auxiliary contacts that signal mains failure and generator start are wired according to the Hyundai wiring diagram. Tighten any loose terminals.
- Continuity test: With power isolated, use a multimeter to check continuity of the remote start pair from ATS to generator. Repair or replace damaged cable.
- Manual start test: Start the generator from the controller in manual mode. If it runs normally, the issue is likely in the ATS or remote wiring, not the generator itself.
- Replace ATS control board: If wiring is correct and E13 persists, the ATS control PCB may be faulty and should be replaced with a Hyundai-compatible board.
