How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and wait for all moving parts to stop before touching belts.
- Inspect belt: Check the Hyundai engine drive belt for cracks, glazing, or fraying. Replace if worn.
- Check tension: Adjust belt tension according to the service manual so that it deflects only slightly under thumb pressure.
- Spin pulleys: Rotate alternator and water pump pulleys by hand. If rough or noisy, replace the faulty component.
