Possible Causes
Weak engine power due to fuel restriction, Governor misadjustment, Heavy load applied too early, Faulty Hyundai Power electronic governor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the generator in OFF and disconnect any non-essential loads at the transfer switch.
- Start with no load: Attempt to start the generator in MANUAL with all loads disconnected. If it reaches normal speed and frequency, the issue may be related to excessive or sudden loading.
- Check fuel system: Inspect the fuel filter, fuel lines, and tank for blockages or contamination. Replace the Hyundai Power fuel filter if it is dirty or water-contaminated.
- Inspect air filter: A clogged air filter can reduce engine power. Remove and inspect the Hyundai Power air filter element. Clean or replace as required.
- Governor adjustment: If equipped with a mechanical governor, verify that the governor spring and linkage are intact and properly tensioned. For electronic governors, check wiring and consult the service manual for calibration procedures.
- Gradual load application: Once the engine is stable at rated speed, apply loads gradually rather than all at once to avoid dragging the engine below underspeed threshold.
