Possible Causes
Restricted exhaust system, Overloading, Incorrect fuel mixture, Faulty Hyundai Power exhaust temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and allow the exhaust system to cool fully. Exhaust components remain hot for a long time.
- Inspect exhaust outlet: Check that the exhaust pipe and muffler outlet are not blocked by nests, debris, or snow. Clear any obstructions.
- Check load level: Verify that the generator is not operating continuously at or above its maximum kW rating. Reduce load if necessary.
- Fuel quality and mixture: For gas-fueled Hyundai Power units, ensure the gas pressure and mixture are within specification. Incorrect mixture can raise exhaust temperatures.
- Sensor check: Locate the exhaust temperature sensor on the exhaust manifold or pipe. Inspect wiring and replace the sensor if it is open-circuit or shorted.
