Possible Causes
Discharged or sulphated battery, High resistance in battery cables, Worn starter motor brushes, Faulty starter solenoid
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disable auto‑start. Keep metal tools away from battery terminals to avoid short circuits.
- Battery test: Perform a load test on the JCB starter battery. Replace if it fails to maintain voltage under load.
- Clean connections: Remove and clean battery terminals and ground straps with a wire brush. Refit tightly with anti‑corrosion grease.
- Voltage drop test: During crank, measure voltage drop across positive and negative cables. Excessive drop indicates high resistance; replace suspect cables.
- Starter inspection: If accessible, remove the starter motor and inspect brushes and commutator. Replace or overhaul if worn or burnt.
