Possible Causes
Blocked primary fuel filter, Air in fuel lines, Failed electric lift pump, Fuel solenoid not opening
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate battery negative and ensure no open flames. Diesel fuel is flammable; use absorbent pads for spills.
- Check fuel level: Confirm the day tank and bulk tank have adequate fuel and that any manual isolation valves on the JCB fuel line are open.
- Inspect filters: Locate the primary and secondary fuel filters on the JCB engine (often spin‑on canisters). Check for contamination or water. Replace if clogged and prime according to the engine manual.
- Bleed air: Use the manual priming pump or electric lift pump bleed screw to remove air from the system until fuel flows bubble‑free.
- Test lift pump: With battery connected, turn key to run and listen/feel for the electric lift pump operation. If silent, check fuse and relay; replace the lift pump if not running with power present.
- Check fuel shutoff solenoid: Verify the fuel solenoid on the injection pump is energizing during crank. If not, test voltage at the solenoid and replace if it does not actuate.
