Possible Causes
Dirty air filter, Overloaded generator, Faulty injector nozzles, Turbocharger issues (if turbocharged JCB engine)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Operate in a ventilated area; avoid breathing exhaust.
- Check load: Compare actual kW load to generator rating. Reduce load if above nameplate capacity.
- Inspect air filter: Remove the air filter element from the JCB engine. If clogged with dust, replace with a new element.
- Fuel system: If smoke persists at normal load, have injectors tested and serviced. Poor spray patterns cause black smoke.
- Turbocharger: For turbo models, check for free rotation and absence of oil leaks. A seized turbo reduces air supply.
