Possible Causes
Empty or contaminated fuel tank, Clogged fuel filter, Air in fuel lines, Faulty electric fuel lift pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and keep all ignition sources away from fuel. Work in a well‑ventilated area.
- Step 1 – Verify fuel level: Check the main fuel tank gauge and the generator day tank (if equipped). Refill with clean, fresh diesel or gasoline as specified by the Kipor model. Do not mix fuel types.
- Step 2 – Inspect for water or contamination: Drain a small amount of fuel from the tank bottom or water separator into a clear container. Look for water droplets or debris. If contaminated, drain and flush the tank and replace fuel.
- Step 3 – Replace fuel filter: Locate the primary and secondary fuel filters on the Kipor engine. Close any fuel shutoff valves, remove the old filters, fill new filters with clean fuel (if recommended), install, and tighten. Open valves and check for leaks.
- Step 4 – Bleed air from fuel system (diesel models): Use the manual priming pump or bleed screws on the fuel filter housing and injection pump. Pump until fuel flows without bubbles, then tighten bleed screws.
- Step 5 – Check electric fuel lift pump: Turn the controller to ON (no start) and listen for the fuel pump. If silent, test for voltage at the pump connector. Replace the fuel lift pump if it does not run with proper voltage present.
