Possible Causes

Broken communication cable between ATS and generator, Faulty ATS control board, Incorrect remote start wiring, Loose terminal block connections

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: De‑energize the ATS and generator control circuits before opening panels. Only qualified personnel should work inside the ATS.

  • Step 1 – Inspect remote start wiring: Locate the remote start terminals on the Kipor controller (often labeled RS, Start/Stop, or similar). Verify that the control wires from the ATS are firmly connected and not damaged.
  • Step 2 – Check communication cable: If your system uses a data cable (e.g., RS‑485) between ATS and generator, inspect for cuts, crushed sections, or water ingress. Replace damaged cable.
  • Step 3 – Test manual start: Attempt to start the generator in MANUAL mode at the controller. If it starts normally, the issue is likely in the ATS or remote wiring.
  • Step 4 – Inspect ATS control board: Look for burnt components, loose plug‑in relays, or blown low‑voltage fuses. Replace the ATS control board if visibly damaged or non‑functional.
