Possible Causes

Burned‑out glow plugs, Faulty glow plug relay, Blown preheat fuse, Broken wiring to glow plugs

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disable automatic start and disconnect battery negative before working on the preheat circuit.

  • Step 1 – Check preheat indicator: When turning the key or controller to preheat, verify that the glow plug indicator (if equipped) illuminates. If not, suspect relay or fuse.
  • Step 2 – Inspect fuses and relay: Locate the glow plug fuse and relay in the control panel. Test and replace any blown fuses. Listen/feel for relay click during preheat; replace if inoperative.
  • Step 3 – Test glow plugs: Disconnect the bus bar from the glow plugs. Measure resistance from each plug terminal to engine ground. Replace any plug with open circuit or resistance far from Kipor spec.
  • Step 4 – Verify voltage at plugs: During preheat, measure voltage at the glow plug bus bar. If no voltage is present, trace back to relay and controller output.
