Possible Causes

Stuck fuel stop solenoid, Mechanical stop lever linkage jammed, Faulty stop relay in control panel, Wiring fault between controller and stop solenoid

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Be prepared to use the mechanical emergency stop lever on the injection pump if the engine will not stop. Keep clear of moving parts.

  • Use mechanical stop: If the engine ignores the stop command, operate the mechanical stop lever on the fuel injection pump to cut fuel and stop the engine.
  • Inspect stop solenoid: With engine off and battery disconnected, check that the stop solenoid plunger moves freely. Clean or replace if sticking.
  • Check wiring and relay: In the control panel, locate the stop relay and verify it energizes on stop command. Inspect wiring from the APM controller to the solenoid for continuity and damage.
  • Functional test: Reconnect battery, clear AL13, and test start/stop several times to confirm proper operation.

Persistent stop failures are a safety risk; if not resolved by solenoid or relay replacement, contact a service technician.
